Plant Species of San Jacinto Mountain: Flora of Tamarack, Round and Long Valleys and Higher Elevations This page gives the latest flora (as of 11 September 2017) of Tamarack, Round and Long Valleys, as well as species found above 10,000 feet in the San Jacinto Mountains. It also gives the min and max elevations of each species in this area, as found in our surveys, along with the number of GPS points recorded for each species, which is roughly correlated with the relative abundance of each species.
Due to its distinctly-different flora, the Hidden Lake area is not included in this flora; see its separate flora.
The list also includes species vouchered from this area, but not seen by us. We have not yet done a final review of these species to see if it is likely that they actually were vouchered from this area, given that we have done extensive surveys now without seeing them. Vouchered species not seen by us of course have no elevations from our survey and no record of the number of GPS points for each.
Notes on some of the species will be added to this page in the future, such as our decision to combine all the Epilobium ciliatum observations into ssp. glandulosum, and more details on the possible Rhamnus ilicifolia. We will also add a list of species rejected from the flora, such as the voucher of the phantom orchid that turned out to be misdetermined.
A separate page will discuss the rarity of species found here, in the larger sense of how abundant the species found here are in the rest of San Jacinto Mountain, and in their entire geographic distribution.
For an introduction to this area, see the Flora of Tamarack, Round and Long Valleys and the Flora of San Jacinto Peak Area. The Tamarack, Round and Long Valley page contains an older version of the flora of that areas, but gives an introduction to this area and other information not yet added to this page.
See Overview of Geographic Distribution Maps for Species of Tamarack, Round and Long Valleys and Higher Elevations for an introduction to the GPS point surveys.

LV Long Valley, including Long Valley Meadow The last four columns give the number of plants, up to a maximum of 99, observed in each of the four areas. If the species has been vouchered, but we have not seen it, the column contains V instead of a number. The best estimate of the relative abundances of the more common species is given by the #GPS points.
