Plant Species of San Jacinto Mountain: Linanthus jaegeri on the Devils Slide Trail Update 6 August 2022: On 2 August 2022, Tom found a 14th plant that is just west of LJ2. For pix of it, see the iNat obs.
This page contains pictures of the 13 individual plants of Linanthus jaegeri on the Devils Slide Trail. We took these pix while we were measuring the sizes of the plants to see how well they separated from L. pungens; see Linanthus jaegeri and L. pungens. We made this page primarily for us so we can easily match up our pix from different dates, and the iNat pix, with each plant.
The plants are ordered, and labeled, roughly from northwest to southeast. The labels are in the form LJn, where LJ stands for Linanthus jaegeri, and the number orders them from 1 to 13. Plant LJ1 is by itself at the switchback at mile 2.02. The rest of the plants are near the "Window Rock" at the switchback at mile 2.37; see picture with some plants labeled. See the Plant Trail Guide for those locations.
The measured sizes are reported for 10 of the 13 plants, and are given as Length x Width x Height. The other three plants were too inaccessible to measure them.
