Plant Guide to PCT from Throop Peak Junction to Mt. Baden-Powell Junction Introduction and Explanation of Plant Trail Guides
Introduction This guide is from three trips:
- A survey on 2 June 2013 by RT and Shaun Hawke, as part of a survey from Vincent Gap to Islip Saddle. Species were noted in this section only if this is the first place they appeared in that survey.
- A survey on 28 July 2013 by Tom Chester, Walt Fidler, and Adrienne Ballwey, from the Throop Peak / Dawson Saddle Trail junction to the Mt. Baden-Powell junction. Species were GPS'd during the survey, but the estimate of the number of plants was made from memory a few days later. Hence that number of plants from that survey alone is quite uncertain.
- A survey on 17 August 2015 by Tom Chester and Keir Morse, from the Throop Peak / Dawson Saddle Trail junction to the switchback right at mile 1.81. A major focus of that survey was to update the estimate of the plant abundances, and to record which side of the trail each species was on.
The Plant Guide See also Dawson Saddle to Mt. Baden-Powell for a plant list in family order.
See Notes on the Scientific Names Used At This Site.
An asterisk (*) before the common name indicates a non-native taxon.
The #Pls represents the minimum number of plants of each species visible from the trail, up to a maximum of 99.
