  • base of mountains above Joshua tree woodland and sagebrush scrub and below montane forest
  • Pinyon Ridge(!) via Big Pines Highway, Angeles Forest Highway near Kentucky Springs Canyon

• Dominant species
  • Pinyon pine Pinus monophyllum
  • junipers Juniperus spp.
