Flora of Boulder Alley / Lower Willows Loop Area, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

Introduction
Checklist

Fig. 1. The Boulder Alley / Lower Willows Loop Floral Area. All the colored solid and dashed lines (except for the black contour showing the Floral Area and the purple dashed line at lower right) show surveys done in this area. Only species found inside the black contour are in the Checklist given here. Click on the map for a version showing a slightly-larger area.

Introduction

A popular hike in ABDSP is to start at Third Crossing, and do a loop trip up Boulder Alley (the Coyote Creek bypass route); the west end of Santa Catarina Spring; and then down Coyote Creek from just above Lower Willows back to Third Crossing. The Loop can just as well be done in the reverse order. This checklist covers that route, along with additional area in the flattish area south of the bypass Jeep Road south of Santa Catarina Spring.

This checklist has been made from 16 field surveys done by the authors from 2009 to 2018, from vouchers, and from iNaturalist observations. Six of our field surveys were dedicated to this loop. The other surveys were for places to the west, but we traveled part of this loop to get there.
