Flora of Culp Valley Area, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
Introduction We define the Culp Valley Floristic Area to be the higher-elevation western portion of ABDSP in the S22 / Culp Valley area, which is accessed via S22. Fig. 1 shows our subdivisions of this Area.
Fig. 1. The Culp Valley Floristic Area. See also unlabeled map
The western boundary of the Culp Valley Floristic Area is the ABDSP boundary. The southern boundary is on the steep southern flanks of Pinyon Ridge. The eastern boundary is on the steep eastern flanks above Borrego Springs. The northern boundary is on the steep slopes of Hellhole Canyon in the east, and along the divide between the South Fork and main branch of Hellhole Canyon.
Minimum and maximum elevations of each subdivision is given in Table 1, in order of declining maximum elevation.

Checklist for Culp Valley Area Also see the flora just for the Pena Spring Area, flora just for the Dry Canyon Area, and the flora just for the Wilson Trail / Pinyon Ridge Area, which may have later updates than the list below.
The Checklist is sorted first by category - dicots, monocots, and ferns - and then by family and scientific name. The Family and Scientific Name are from the 2012 Second Edition Jepson Manual.
The column headers, with dates of fieldwork, are:
- #V: Number of vouchers for Culp Valley
- #Pl: Number of Plants Observed
- OC: Old Culp Valley Road 11/1/10, 4/12/11, 4/14/11, 4/26/13, 5/29/16.
- PR: Pinyon Ridge (Wilson Trail area) 11/30/11, 4/28/12, 3/8/15, 3/1/16, 11/10/19, 11/14/19.

- DC: Dry Canyon area 11/1/13, 1/31/20.
A V in the column for the Pena Spring Area indicates a voucher from the Montezuma View Point, and that we haven't observed that species in the Pena Spring Area yet. Note that there is considerable uncertainty about where Gander's Montezuma View Point actually is. No one else apparently used that term.
Version for printing, without lines and other text on this page: html (10 pages) or pdf Clickbook booklet (3 double-sided pages). (See printing instructions for an explanation of these options)
Voucher data provided by the participants of the Consortium of California Herbaria (ucjeps.berkeley.edu/consortium/).
