On 3 November 2017, Tom Chester, Walt Fidler, Mike Crouse, Michael Charters and Bill Bulger surveyed the first two miles of the Boy Scout Trail area, along with a brief excursion south of the Quail Springs Picnic Area. We recorded at least 2,724 plants of 47 species in bloom. See pictures of some of the species we observed in bloom.
On 7 November 2017, Tom Chester, Walt Fidler, Nancy Accola and Mike Crouse surveyed three areas: near the west entrance station; the drainage 0.4 miles south of the Boy Scout Trail; and an area in Queen Valley about 0.4 miles sw of the Desert Queen Well, along with a brief excursion south of the Quail Springs Picnic Area. We recorded at least 2,776 plants of 60 species in bloom.
On both days combined, we saw at least 3,701 plants of 65 species in bloom.
Not bad for November!
The following table gives the number of plants of each taxon observed to be in bloom on each day.
