|?||?||South Shore of Lake Hodges. Trailhead across the street from Casa de las Campanas. Exit I-15 at West Bernardo Drive/Pomerado and go west for 0.25 mile. Look for a sign saying Bernardo Bay Natural Area and park in the lot.|

The trailhead is 5.3 miles east of San Diego wild animal park on 78 (2.2 miles east of Brandy Canyon Road).
There are two trails beginning here, the North Trail and the South Trail.
The South Trail climbs to a trail fork at 0.5 miles.
The right (west) branch continues for 0.9 mile to a viewpoint of the San Pasqual Valley.
The left (east) branch drops into a canyon, then climbs to join a jeep road at 1.4 miles. At 1.7 miles, a side trail leads to another viewpoint. At 1.9 mile, another jeep trail joins the trail, and reaches a summit at 2.3 miles.
