The Carlsbad Village Faire is held on the first Sunday in May and November, and began in 1981. It is billed as the largest single-day street fair in the U.S., drawing 80,000 people.
For May 4, over 800 vendors will have booths along Grand Avenue, from Carlsbad Boulevard to Jefferson Street, and along State Street, from Beech Avenu to Carlsbad Village Drive. 80% of the booths will sell craft items, 15% are informational or commercial, and 5% will sell food. In addition, there will be a Fun Zone for kids, a merry-go-round, Ferris wheel and Astro-jump, plus train and boat rides. Keystone Kops will patrol the area.
A free parking shuttle will operate from the west end of the parking lot at Plaza Camino Real near Sears, or in front of the Chamber of Commerce building on Avenida Encinas. Shuttles leave every 10 minutes between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
